Frequently Asked Questions How does The Portrait Studio VB work? It’s simple — book your studio session online, arrive at your scheduled time, and enjoy a relaxed, professional photoshoot. After your session, you’ll view your images and choose one of our digital image packages to purchase.
How much does a session cost? Studio sessions are $50 for a group of 6. Package choices range from $99 to $499 and will be chosen after your session.
Is the $50 booking fee refundable? The $50 booking fee is non-refundable, as each appointment reserves a dedicated studio time that prevents others from booking. If you need to reschedule, the fee can be applied to a future session within 60 days of your original date.
What happens if I’m late to my session? Please plan to arrive 5–10 minutes early to ensure you receive your full session time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your session time may be shortened to stay on schedule. Clients arriving more than 20 minutes late may need to reschedule for another day. Because your studio time is reserved exclusively for you, the $50 booking fee is non-refundable but can be transferred to a new date within 60 days.
Do you offer on-location sessions? Yes! In addition to our in-studio portraits, we offer on-location sessions for families who want to be photographed outdoors or in a special setting around Hampton Roads. These are ideal for larger families (6+ people) or anyone looking for a more customized portrait experience. On-location sessions start at $249 and include additional time, posing variety, and location flexibility.
Can you photograph larger families? Yes — families with more than 6 people are photographed on-location rather than in-studio to ensure everyone is comfortably included.
Do you offer prints or albums? We focus on high-resolution digital images that you can download, share, and print anywhere you like. However, professional prints and wall art are available to purchase from your online gallery.
How long does a session take? Most sessions last 20–30 minutes, depending on the number of people being photographed. We keep it fun, efficient, and stress-free!
When will I get my photos? Your edited images are typically delivered within 5–7 business days after your order is placed.
What should we wear? We recommend neutral tones, coordinated outfits, and simple textures. Avoid logos or busy patterns so your focus stays on your faces and emotions.
Do you photograph babies or pets? Yes! We love babies, toddlers, and even pets. Just let us know in advance so we can prepare the set and lighting accordingly.
Do you offer gift cards? Yes — our Portrait Studio Gift Cards make the perfect gift for families, parents, and friends. They can be used for any studio session or image package.

Can I reschedule my session? Yes — sessions can be rescheduled up to 48 hours before your appointment. The $50 booking fee will automatically carry over to your new date (within 60 days).
